Mina Ho Ferrante
Mina Ho Ferrante, born and raised in Vietnam, lives in Burbank with her husband and three children. She attended The Academy of Art College, San Francisco and worked at Walt Disney Animation where she helped design movie sets for animation films. She also exhibits her paintings across California and has received multiple awards from many juried art shows. Currently, Mina is pursuing her Master of Modern Art History, volunteers in the community, writes, and teaches drawing and painting classes. For our upcoming Monthly Meeting, Mina will be demonstrating a still life in oil. For more information about her, check her website: http://www.minahoferrante.com/.
Refreshments and an opportunity to participate in a raffle for prizes will be provided.
Greetings to Members and Friends,
Happy Halloween wishes to you all! Enjoy it, – and then turn your thoughts to art!
This month we are pleased to present Mina Ho Ferrante as our guest demonstrator. She is a talented painter who will present her techniques of painting a still life in oil. She will donate two prints of her work for our Pierce College Scholarship Raffle fund, too. Be sure to come to our meeting this month on Tuesday November 5, 2019. Be there at 6:30 pm to start off the meeting with some refreshments and chatting with our fellow artists.
Next month will be our Holiday Pot Luck Dinner meeting. We will be able to share with others our artistic surprises, advances, hints and knowledge and some good food, too. We will have our last Raffle of the Year as well, with lots of nice prizes. And don’t forget to bring your new creations to our Mini Art Show with a first prize of $20.
Please consider volunteering some of your time to keep our club healthy and functioning. Our aim is to help San Fernando Valley artists, both beginners and advanced, with valuable approaches and ideas for art. We can all work together to make it a success – and we need YOU and your IDEAS. So if you can help, please let me know at [email protected] Unfortunately, we had to cancel the “Put Your Art Online” workshop because we did not get enough responses. Therefore, we plan to send out a questionnaire for all our members to fill out and return (we hope) to tell us what types of demonstrations you prefer. We can all learn from other artists, but specifically, which types of demonstrations do YOU wish to see? Look for the Questionnaire in your email soon.
We look forward to a 2020 filled with demonstrations from fantastic artists, so be sure to renew your membership at our meeting. Bea Piper and Rita Howard will sign you up.
See you at the November meeting,
October Mini Art Show Winners
Thank You, Cheryl Scheer!
Our October “ Put Your Art On-Line” meeting featured Cheryl Scheer, a graphic artist/designer, teacher and expert on the internet and web sites. She used her computer to show us various ways to get online to show and promote ourselves and our artwork. The internet is a huge market, and an advantage to artists who know how to use it. Cheryl gave us information on how one can do it for free or for little money. Cheryl also offers individual tutoring, helping people in their quests for better promotion. If you are interested in improving your internet promotion, contact her at: [email protected]
