Rafael Maniago
A master of portraiture and landscapes, the paintings of Rafael Maniago are fresh, dynamic, vibrant and captivating. He has a keen eye for perfection and color which allows him to capture the inner life and physical likeness of the character he portraits. His landscapes reflect his love for the California landscape as well as his deep love for his cultural roots. Rafael is versatile in pastels, oils and acrylics, and will be demonstrating in oil at our September meeting.
Born in Mexico, Pampanga, Philippines in 1944, Rafael Maniago has been drawing since childhood. He attended the University of the East in Manila, where he studied Arts and Commercial Advertisement.
For 20 years, he operated his own gallery in the Philippines. He has painted over a thousand portraits; his ability to capture the likeness of people is outstanding. In 1985, he migrated to the United States. His passion continued as he studied at the Pasadena Art Center.
Rafael is a member of the Portrait Society of America, American Society of Portrait Artists, California Art Club, and Laguna Plein Air Painter Association. Click here to visit his web site and see more examples of his work along with his workshop schedule.
