    Acrylic Still Life Paintings
    by Christina Ramos

Join us for our June painting demonstration by Christina Ramos. She plans to show us her Still Life Painting techniques with acrylic paints. This is a wonderful opportunity.

Christina Ramos is a nationally recognized artist from Southern California. Specializing in figurative realism, Christina was recently named by American Galleries as one of America’s Great Painters.

Raised in a family of artists, craftsmen, and musicians, Christina’s talent was recognized at an early age. Although she studied Architecture and Interior Design during college, it was not until she was home raising her four children that she began focusing on painting. She refined her skills in figurative painting at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art.

Her work has been shown throughout the United States and has been honored with awards from esteemed jurors like Max Ginsburg, Dean Mitchell, Tony Pro, and Kristin Hoerth, Editor and Chief of Southwest Art magazine.

Her innovative use of acrylics has made her a much sought-after demonstrator and instructor. Christina’s work has been shown at the Pasadena Museum of History, the Santa Paula Museum of Art, San Diego Museum of the Living Artist, the International Museum of Contemporary Masters of Fine Art, the Pacific Asian Museum, and many galleries throughout the United States. Her work is held in many private collections in the United States and Europe as well.

Carter Sexton, 5308 Laurel Canyon Blvd., North Hollywood, CA

Wake up from those hot and slow Summer days and get ready for our Members September Art Exhibit with the theme “Autumn Awakening.”

This exhibit will be held at Carter Sexton, the fine art supply store in North Hollywood. For many years, Carter Sexton has been the place for artists to find the supplies they need, and now it provides them with space to show their art too. The upper levels of the main room have exhibit space for all to see, and Carter Sexton continues to offer many themed exhibits, a wide range of art supplies, art workshops, friendly and helpful staff and much more.

The San Fernando Valley Art Club will have its juried exhibit (with prizes) from Saturday, September 15 to Thursday, September 27, 2018. Lots of people will see our work as the store is open Monday through Saturday. Any sales will be handled by their staff, so we do not have to “Gallery Sit.” An announcement of the exhibit will be sent out to Carter Sexton’s clientele, and the Reception will be held on the opening day with extended hours.

This is a fine opportunity to show off your new art. Attached below are the “Autumn Awakening” prospectus with more details and the Carter Sexton Galley Submissions Signature Form (with a second page for additional submissions.

If you are not a current member and want to be in the exhibit you can join the club at our next meeting on September 4, 2018 and you will automatically be a member for 2019 as well.

To enter the show, please print out the Carter Sexton forms and fill them in with your information. Then mail them, along with your check payment, to our Post Office Box before Thursday, September 6, 2018. You can also bring them to the meeting in September.
