Volume 76, Issue 8
Tuesday, December 4 is the San Fernando Valley Art Club’s Holiday Pot Luck Dinner
We wish all our members, guests and visitors a wonderful and Happy Holiday Season. Our December meeting will be our Holiday Pot Luck Dinner. It will be a delicious feast with lots of good food and enjoyable company – YOU! Get to know all the fine artists we have in our club. We have a lot in common!
The club is providing the coffee and other beverages, but the rest is up to all of us. So – bring something to add to the other delicious offerings for a great dinner, with an enjoyable atmosphere. It might be a salad, main course, side dish or desert. We want everyone to relax and enjoy each other’s company while we have a great meal.
Our regular Mini Art Show will be your opportunity to bring your latest masterpieces to be seen and possibly win a $20 gift card to the Carter Sexton Art Materials Store as the first prize.
Our Raffle will take place as well. The money goes to our Miriam Thorem Art Scholarship Fund that will be given out in June of 2019 to a student at Pierce College.
This enjoyable dinner will be our celebration for ALL the holidays coming up including the New Year celebration. New Year Day happens to fall on the first Tuesday of January, so there will be no SFVAC meeting in January. We will meet again on February 5, 2019 with a Pastel demonstration by Janine Beal.
See you at the Pot Luck Dinner!
November Mini Art Show Winners
November Meeting Highlights
Our Thanks go to Jan Godachy for her excellent watercolor demonstration at our November meeting. She showed us her techniques for painting waves crashing against the shore during sundown. The dark wave crashing against the rocks was the central image against the bright sky. She also donated one of her paintings to our Raffle, and it was won by Sandy Fullum. Thank you, Jan.
Thanks also go to the people who brought the refreshments for the members and visitors to enjoy before the demonstration and at the break also. Your contributions add to making our meetings much more enjoyable.
Paint Out Schedule in December 2018
The Paint Out scheduled for December 5, 2018 is cancelled due to the unfortunate destruction of the Peter Strauss Ranch in the Woolsey Fire. That was a great place to paint and a horrible loss to those who loved it.

Show Your Art in the Members Gallery On Our SFVAC Web Site!
We have a Members Gallery where you can have three to six of your pieces of art on display along with a link to your own web page or internet store. This is a great way to share your work and to give people a way to contact you that does NOT include your e-mail address (unless you want it there). Many people who are interested in art visit our site to see Our activities, and to see the work of our members – so take advantage of it.
Take three or more good sharp photos of your art with your digital camera or your cell phone that has a camera, and send them to Diana Hartman. She will size it for our Members Gallery. Contact Diana at: [email protected]
