Volume 76, Issue 2
Hello Members and Friends,
Our March meeting was a success with the demonstration by Louisa McHugh who showed how she develops her layered abstracts with watercolor, acrylic, and stenciling. Thanks go to all of you who brought refreshments, participated in the Mini Show or bought Raffle tickets for our Miriam Thorim Scholarship fund. Your efforts are appreciated – you add so much to the club.
April will be a busy month for us. We will start off with our monthly meeting. Sharon Weaver will be our guest demonstrator showing her landscape techniques in Oil. You can see her beautiful work on her website at: www.SharonWeaver.com
Then we have our Spring exhibit with the theme “Journey Into Spring.” It will be at the Carter Sexton Fine Art Store, and we hope all of you will take this opportunity to show your work there. April 6 is the deadline to enter your Journey into Spring Submission Form (plus Additional Artwork 2 and 3 and Additional Artwork 4 forms if needed). The exhibit “Take in” day is Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The reception will be on April 13 and the show will run until May 1. Please read all the details in the Journey into Spring Prospectus and print out the forms to submit your work. They are all on our website as well as here in the Paint Rag.
The last item for this month is that the art of our Club members can be shown on the web site “Pinterest.” If you sign up for a free “Pinterest” account, you can place your work on the San Fernando Valley Art Club “Boards.” You can show your work to sell, or just to show it to the world. This is easiest if you already have your art images on Facebook, Instagram, in an online store, a blog, or on your web site. You can also upload your art images from your phone. Please see the information on our web site www.sfvartclub.org.
If you have questions about any of these things, I will be happy to answer them. Our Juror for this show will be Helene Jukoff.

REMINDER: Don’t forget to send in your San Fernando Valley Art Club Membership Renewal for 2019. We look forward to lots of interesting art meetings and nice exhibits. Fill out the Membership Form on the web site and be sure to mark it as a Renewal. Then send it, and your check, to our Post Office Box:

Show Your Art in the Members Gallery
We have a Members Gallery where you can have three to six of your pieces of art on display along with a link to your own web page or internet store if you have one. This is a great way to share your work and to give people a way to contact you that does NOT include your e-mail address (unless you want it there). Many people who are interested in art visit our site to see our activities, and to see the work of our members – so take advantage of it.
Take three or more good sharp photos of your art with your digital camera or your cell phone that has a camera, and send them to Diana Hartman at [email protected] She will size it for our Members Gallery.
2019 San Fernando Valley Art Club Scholarship
The SFVAC is committed to continuing its scholarship program. It will present another scholarship award in 2019 to a deserving art student. If you are able to help in this worthwhile program, make your check out to SFVAC and note “Miriam Thorin Scholarship Program” on the memo line. Forward your check to San Fernando Valley Art Club, P.O. Box 16404, Encino, CA 91416. Your donation will make a difference in fostering the arts in our communities.
