Welcome to the San Fernando Valley Art Club online.
Join Us Tuesday, March 4, 2014 for an Acrylic demonstration by Amy Shawley.
Los Angeles-based artist Amy Shawley creates her visual language through painting, illustration, andphotography. Inspired by nature, poetry, memory, history and cycles of growth and decay, she presents her viewers with figurative images designed to tell a story. She is primarily self-taught as an artist and has been exhibiting her work professionally since 2004, in both solo and group shows in New York, LA, Minneapolis and Berlin. She received a BA in Art History from Boston University in 2003.
The Golden lecture/demo is a two-hour educational presentation on acrylic paints. The lecture covers information about the different types of pigments, paint formulations and their viscosities, as well as gels, pastes, grounds, color mixing, drying time, health & safety concerns, and much, much more!
Amy will bring some samples for us to play with. This is one session you won’t want to miss!
The California Community Foundation (CCF) will award $290,000 in Fellowships for Visual Artists to 16 individual Los Angeles artists. Ten fellowships at $20,000 each will be awarded to mid-career artists and six fellowships at $15,000 each will be awarded to emerging artists.
Our “for-sale” venues at various valley businesses continue to do well for exhibiting members. And, considering that there’s no entry fee and only a 20% commission for the host business, the opportunity to exhibit for a month at a time is quite a bargain. See Art Around Town for details, and contact Marilyn or Marie to reserve a spot for your work.
